Abstract
This article, published in two parts, combines insights form travel writing, history, and urban studies to explore the social welfare milieu of early 20th century New York City and its connection to disaster relief efforts for Titanic survivors.  It should be read with Part One, which appeared in Voyage 107 and is also posted here.
