About Emmanuel Boss

I am an aquatic physicist who works on a variety of problems in oceanography spanning from phytoplankton blooms to sediment transport. Common to these problems is the necessity to understand sensor signals to better constrain the problem at hand. Typically I use optical oceanographic measurements (e.g. absorption, attenuation and angular scattering or reflectance observed from space) to constrain the solution space to the most likely scenario. I believe confirmation bias and lack of relevant observations are what causes scientists to miss obvious solutions to problems at hand. How to teach science effectively is another passion I spend time trying to solve.
