Abstract
In this essay the author examines the environmental protection practices, such as nature conservation and sustainable living, among those practicing traditional Chinese medicine in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California. It is noted that traditional Chinese medical practices have become an increasingly popular form of alternative medicine in the United States. A number of topics are considered including the number and regulation of acupuncturists in California, ecological awareness and responsibility by practitioners of Chinese medicine, and spirituality and ecological discourse.
