Abstract
The book explores the archaeology of the Clarke and Lake Company headquarters on Arrowsic Island, Maine (1654-1676), and places it in the context of English settlement and trade in the Kennebec region of Maine in the seventeeenth-century. Major Thomas Clarke and Captain Thomas Lake were prominent Puritan merchants of Boston estalished a saw mill, lumber yard, trading post, and farmsteads to provide them with exports to England and the West Indies.
