About Ellen E. Neuhaus

Before working at the University of Northern Iowa, Associate Professor Neuhaus served as the Information Center Manager for the headquarters location of Milliken & Company in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She taught Library Information Sources and Library Information courses as an adjunct faculty for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at UNI before working at Rod Library. Associate Professor Neuhaus has held a variety of positions at Rod Library including MultiService Center Librarian, Interim Head of Access Services, Reference Librarian and Bibliographer, and Digital Scholarship Librarian. She served as the Distance Education Coordinator and as liaison and bibliographer to the School of Health, Physical Education, and Leisure Services from 2000 to 2015.
Associate Professor Neuhaus served as President of the Iowa Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries in 2008 and as President of the Iowa Library Association in 2009. She served as chair of the 2009 Iowa Library Association Annual Conference "Deciphering our Future: Transforming Iowa Libraries" held at the Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines Iowa in October. The conference had 719 attendees and 88 exhibitors. She was responsible for arranging for the following keynote speakers: Lee Rainie (Director of the Pew Internet & American Life Project), Karen G. Schneider (Free Range Librarian), and Janice Harrington (Assistant Professor of English at University of Illinois and poet.). She was responsible for obtaining $15,000 in support of the 2009 Iowa Library Association Annual Conference. Associate Professor Neuhaus participated in several international exchanges with libraries in Europe and Russia, such as Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, St. Petersburg, Russia in 2004; Klagenfurt University, Klagenfurt, Austria in 2000; and several libraries in Slovakia in 1999.
