Going Beyond: An Exploration of Instruction & Research Support for Students Who Can’t Come to You
NAHSL 2020 (2020)

Abstract
In addition to traditional on-campus programs, my liaison areas include programs that are all online, a hybrid of on-campus and online, and in-person at a separate location. Even before COVID-19 changed things, I had tried a variety of ways to connect with students in these programs, with varying degrees of success (and failure). In this talk, I will share both my pre-pandemic and during-pandemic experiences, including designated discussion forums in online courses, videochat office hours (for general audiences, for departments, for specific courses), virtual instruction, and holding in-person office hours at a separate location. I will report on which methods have worked for me, and which methods have not.
