About Dr Elizabeth Rix

Dr Elizabeth Rix BNurs(Hons), PhD(Sydney)
Dr Elizabeth Rix is a practicing registered nurse, and a researcher and lecturer at Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples.  Her experience as a renal nurse with NSW Health was the foundation for her doctoral studies which focused on improving mainstream services for Aboriginal people receiving dialysis in rural NSW.  She was fortunate to have Bundjalung Elders, renal patients and Aboriginal Health Workers guide her in completing her PhD by publication.
Liz’s research interests include: Indigenous health; qualitative and Indigenous research methods; chronic disease prevention and management; the care of older people; and improving mainstream health services for Aboriginal people.  To do this she divides her time between the clinical and academic worlds.
