About Elizabeth Swann, PhD, ATC, FNAP

Dr. Swann at Nova Southeastern University is Professor and Director of Interprofessional Integration at the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences in the Health Professions Division. Prior to holding this position, she was the founding Chair of the Health and Human Performance Department and the initial Program Director of both the Athletic Training Education Program (2003) and Exercise and Sports Science major. Originally, from California she received her Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science Degree in Athletic Training from Texas State University in San Marcos. Obtained her Master of Arts in Sport Management from The University of Texas at Austin and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Administration and Teaching at The University of Southern Mississippi. As a co-author on the “Interprofessional Education and Practice in Athletic Training” White paper for the Athletic Training Education Journal, her scholarship in this area is ongoing. In 2018, she presented research on Interprofessional Education in London, England. She is a graduate of Leadership Broward Class XXXIII, which is a premier leadership development program designed for adults who currently hold leadership positions and are involved in their community. She went on to serve as the President 2016-2017 for the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, including Human Trafficking Awareness (HTA) campaign. Recently, Dr. Swann was appointed to the Board of Directors for the State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) and tacking the Opioid Crisis from a legislative perspective. Appointed as the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative in 2017, is excited to continue serving student athletes, faculty, and NSU community in this capacity. In the summer of 2020, Dr. Swann assumed the role as the Executive Director of The Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice. This Center works with each College at NSU and our NSU Clinic Operations executing interprofessional training and programs that align with both professional accreditation standards and the NSU Core Values.
