About Elizabeth Lane Furdell
Elizabeth Lane Furdell, Professor of History Emerita and University Distinguished Professor at the University of North Florida, received her Ph.D. from Kent State University in 1973 and specialized in English, British, and European history. She taught courses on Tudor-Stuart England, Renaissance-Reformation, Modern Britain, British Empire, and Ireland and published extensively on early modern medicine in the Tudor-Stuart era. Among her books, all of them based on British archives and manuscripts, are The Royal Doctors: Medical Personnel at the Tudor and Stuart Courts; Publishing and Medicine in Early Modern England; and Fatal Thirst: Diabetes in Britain until Insulin. Her many articles, essays, and reviews appeared in various academic journals, collections, and books. Throughout her career she received multiple teaching awards, scholarship recognition, and wide acclaim for her mentoring of students.
