Making up for lost time : young African refugees in Western Sydney high schools
(2006)
Abstract
This report describes how refugee young people from African countries are negotiating new learning challenges in three Western Sydney high schools. Intensive English Centres (IECs) were attached to two of the schools. The research highlighted varying experiences across the three schools but overall it found the schooling system is not working well for newly-arrived African students.
