About Elisabeth Fatila

Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada. I graduated from the University of Guelph with a B.Sc. in Chemistry. Since I loved Guelph so much, I continued my graduate studies at the University of Guelph with Prof. Kathryn E. Preuss. Lots of metal complexes later, I came to the United States as a post-doc with Prof. Ken Raymond at UC Berkeley. This was followed by a post-doc with Prof. Amar H. Flood and Thermo FIsher in an industrially funded position at Indiana University Bloomington. During my time with Amar, I learned the ins and outs of anion binding by working with cyanostar created by Semin Lee (now a professor at LSU). My current research is focused on the coordination of lanthanides and probing their magnetic and optical properties as well as learning more about their non-trivalent oxidation states.
