About Duane P Truex III

My primary current research interests are in the nature and measurement of scholarly influence and in Enterprise Systems Governance.
I earned my PhD from the Thomas Watson School of Engineering and Advance Technology at the State University of New York, working with Heinz, K. Klein, and presently hold joint associate professorial appointments in the Computer Information Systems Department and in the Institute of International Business of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at the Georgia State University where I serve as the Program Director for the GSU’s University of Nantes (France) Academic Exchange program. I have also held additional academic appointments in Sweden (as a Professor of Industrial economics at the Mid Sweden University) and in France (as a Research Professor at Université de Nantes) and is a former Leverhulme Fellow in England (at Salford University).
My research explores 1) the systems architectures in SMEs worldwide, 2) implementation and post-implementation governance of Enterprise wide systems like ERP, 3) how emergent organizations properties are reflected in enterprise architectures, 4) the social impacts of information systems (IS) on organizational stakeholders and 5) the nature of scholarly influence. I have published nearly one hundred peer-refereed works in US and European journals, and in IFIP, ACM and IEEE transactions, books and proceedings. Truex is also active in the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) working groups 8.2 and 8.6 research communities and served as program chair, track chair or doctoral consortia co-chair of several major international conferences including the (ICIS) 2008-Paris.
I began his professional life as a musician and has managed non-for-profit arts organizations–symphony orchestras, museums and arts councils–in three US states. After completing an MBA degree I served as the director of the famed MBA/Arts Administration program at SUNY Binghamton.
