About Duane Covrig

Duane Covrig, PhD, has been professor of leadership and ethics at Andrews University School of Education since 2005 and adjunct assistant professor of religion at Loma Linda University, since 2004. Since 2015, he has been chair of the Department of Leadership. His wife is a registered nurse and they have two daughters pursuing careers in the health professions.

Born and raised in California. His elementary, high school and college work were in public schools in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Placer County. He has a BA in Religion from Weimar College in 1986. He has teaching credentials through Pacific Union College. He has a MA in religion (ethics) from Loma Linda University and a PhD from University of California, Riverside in education, with emphasis in research, policy and administration.

He has worked in higher education for over 20 years. He was research fellow in the mid 1990s at University of California, Riverside, an assistant professor in religion at Loma Linda University from 1996-1998 and assistant and associate professor in educational leadership at The University of Akron in Ohio from 1999-2005, before coming to Andrews University.

He writes and speaks in the area of Adventist ethics, professional ethics, and moral leadership. He has published over 20 articles in journals like Journal of Applied Christian Leadership, Journal of Educational Administration, Journal of Leadership Studies, Professional Ethics, and Research on Christian Higher Education and runs a blog
