About Dana Steil, Ph.D.

Dana Steil is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.  For more than 20 years, he’s been working in student success, either as an administrator, data analyst, liaison between faculty and the Provost, or in his most favorite role:  a classroom professor.  Whether teaching, mentoring students in software development, or leading research grants tied to approximately $1,000,000 in the Criminal Justice and Traffic Safety fields, he’s motivated by his love for students and confidence in their impact in society and the Lord’s kingdom.

In his current administrative roles, Dana’s responsibilities have changed, but his motivations have not.  He seeks to serve Harding’s students, faculty, and administration as a listener, translator, communicator, bridge builder, and transparency advocate. As Dean, Dana leads and serves15 academic departments at Harding.

Away from work, Dana values time with his wife (Mandy) and four children (Emma, Eli, Eden, and Ezra) and enjoys woodworking, hiking, running, and other outdoor activities. The family’s experiences as foster parents and hosting their church small group continue to shape them in immeasurable ways.
