The Challenges for Exceptional Black Students in American Higher Institutions (2009)
  • Dr Williams Emeka Obiozor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka-Nigeria

After spending a couple of years teaching special education in a private four-year Black college, two-year commuinity college and four-year multicultural university in the United States, I am motivated to share my classroom experiences with this presentation. This paper discusses the current social and academic challenges facing exceptional Black students in higher institutions in America. There are diverse social and learning issues concerning exceptional Black students in the colleges and universities which professors and administrators should be cognizant of irrespective of abilities and disabilities.
