About Drew Smith

Drew Smith is an Associate Librarian with the USF Tampa Library, specializing in genealogical research. He is the liaison librarian to the College of Engineering and the Departments of Mathematics and Physics. Prior to his current position, Smith was an instructor for the USF School of Library and Information Science (now the School of Information) for more than 12 years, and earlier worked for academic computing departments at the University of South Florida and Clemson University. Smith is an active speaker and writer in the field of genealogical research, a past Secretary of the Association of Professional Genealogists (2010-2011) and a past Director of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. He has been the co-host of the Genealogy Guys Podcast since September 2005, and is the host of the Genealogy Connection podcast. Smith is author of the books Generation by Generation, published in 2023 by Genealogical Publishing Company; Organize Your Genealogy, published in 2016 by Family Tree Books; Advanced Genealogy Research Techniques, published in 2013 by McGraw-Hill; and Social Networking for Genealogists, published in 2009 by Genealogical Publishing Company.
