Abstract
Dating historic clothing is by no means a simple task. The wealthiest individuals certainly wore high style fashion. For those of lesser means the fashionableness of one’s clothing depended on income, class, employment, age, and availability of goods. The steps in this article supply a useful guide in establishing an approximate date for historic garments.
