Abstract

It is a known fact that information and Communications Technology has brought a revolution to the information profession in this 21st Century. The paper discusses how ICTs Application is used in library and information Centers and its impact, the underlying benefits to the profession and the users have been highlighted. The paper concludes by further outlining the challenges confronting the information profession as result of ICTs advancements .Finally, core competences for the modern information profession have been highlighted as solutions to address the challenges.
