Abstract

Ultrastructural investigation has shown the presence of rod-shaped endosymbiotic bacteria in the cytoplasm of three species of Vaucheria. Particular attention is directed to the relationship in V. sessilis where the symbiont moves along the vegetative filament on cytoplasmic microtubules of the host.
