San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group (2014)
  • Diane A. Suffridge, Department of Counseling Psychology, Dominican University of California
Abstract
This workshop will introduce a developmental model of personality structure developed by Nancy McWilliams and illustrate its application in psychotherapy. Understanding the specific conflicts and fears of individuals at different developmental levels will enable the clinician to maintain empathy while providing effective treatment. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss case vignettes and compare the McWilliams’ model with Control-Mastery theory.
