To Inject or Not to Inject: Musculoskeletal Medicine and Procedures in Primary Care

Abstract
This session is sponsored by the STFM Group on Musculoskeletal Education and Sports Medicine. The goals are: discuss common obstacles to musculoskeletal education related to injections faced by primary care residency programs, encourage leadership by faculty, educate about resources for curriculum development, empower participants to incorporate their skills into teaching and curriculum of their patient-centered medical homes. The target audiences are faculty, residents, primary care physicians and those who train them. At the conclusion of this breakfast, participants will: 1)Identify obstacles in musculoskeletal education related to different types of injections, 2)Recognize the importance of musculoskeletal education in residency programs and ways to implement the curriculum and 3)Utilize resources to enhance teaching and curriculum regarding musculoskeletal procedures in their patient-centered medical homes.
