About Dr Desmond Bermingham

Dr Desmond Bermingham has over twenty five years’ experience in the education sector in the UK, North and South America; the Middle East; Africa and Asia.   He has held senior leadership positions in the UK Department for International Development (DFID); the World Bank; Save the Children; and a number of global education foundations. He was a visiting research fellow at Oxford University and the Centre for Global Development in Washington.  He is currently the Chief Executive of ACER UK. 
 
Dr Bermingham’s research interests and publications include: the interaction between international and national education policy; education systems and sector wide reform; education financing and equity; social impact investment and innovative financing for education; education in conflict affected environments; education and social mobility.
