A portrait of Clarinda Brettun Strickland painted in 1842 by artist Jeremiah Pearson Hardy hangs in the Special Collections Department at the University of Maine's Fogler Library. A patron question sparked a look into its history and possible connections of the woman in the painting to the Phillips-Strickland House in Bangor.
