About Derreck Blake Deason

Derreck Blake Deason has a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies and Planning with a minor in Geography and concentrations in Land Use and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of New Orleans (UNO). He is currently a candidate for a Master of Science in Transportation (MST) at UNO to specialize in transportation planning and administration.

His work has traversed public, private and non-profit sectors and has helped collect, map, and analyze relevant data. Deason's skill set has contributed to organizations such as the City of New Orleans, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Port of New Orleans and Habitat for Humanity, to name a few.

He is active in the planning field’s trade associations. Deason was recognized with several academic, leadership, and community service awards during his undergraduate and graduate studies, and is cited on numerous published works on the subjects of land use, public participation GIS, blight, community and economic development.

Future plans include continued work in the planning field. After completion of his MST, Deason hopes to join an agency or organization dedicated to developing sustainable transportation solutions.
