About Dennis Carlin Harper PhD

Dr. Harper’s research focuses on children with chronic health disabilities, peer attitude studies, and adults with mental retardation during the aging process, with a particular interest in psychiatric syndromes/dementia in the elderly. This work was part of his national leadership in identifying dementia as a concern for those with significant intellectual deficits. He has an extensive publication record of empirical research papers, abstracts, monographs, multiple book chapters, (200+) and over 300 state, national and international presentations, is on national and multinational governmental research review panels and is recognized as a leading authority on pediatric chronic health and disabilities in the United States. He currently serves on the Canadian Institutes of Health- CIHR's Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health as an appointed grant reviewer child health and disability. He has extensive editorial consultation experience with service to multiple major peer reviewed medical and psychological journals. Recently his research on albinism with his COE colleague was selected as among the top 50 accessed papers in Rehabilitation Psychology in 2007.
