About Deniz Gumustekin

Dr. Deniz Gumustekin completed MA in Political Science at Georgia State University and earned her PhD in International Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University with a dissertation project on “Kurds Under Threat: The Role of Kurdish Transnational Networks During Peace and Conflict (2004-2017)”. Currently, Dr. Gumustekin is a part-time faculty member at Kennesaw State University.

Her research has a substantive focus on international relations and comparative politics, particularly on peace, conflict, and terrorism in Middle East politics. More specifically, she is interested in exploring intranational conflicts. The democratic transformation of the Middle East is closely related to the ethnic and religious minority groups found in the region. This fits into her interest in the international dimensions of internal conflicts, ethno-nationalist terrorism, and terrorist groups on both national and international levels, crossing the boundaries between international relations and comparative politics. Due to her educational background at Georgia State University and interdisciplinary doctoral program with a unique specialization in international conflict, she is highly qualified to teach variety of political science and international relations course in the curriculum, including American Government, Global Issues, International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Middle Eastern Political classes both face-to-face and online format.
