About Debra Durham, Ph.D.

My name is Dr. Debra Durham and I’m an animal behaviorist and wildlife biologist. I help dedicated animal organizations and caring people do more good work for animals. Before earning a PhD in animal behavior from University of California, Davis, I studied anthropology at the University of Washington.
In addition to my research, I advocate for animals in law and policy and make time to share the wonder of animals through teaching and outreach. For example, I give presentations on the care and conservation of apes and their legal status. In the last few years, I have spoken on these topics at a number of international conferences, universities and governmental hearings.
