About Debra Sellheim, PT, PhD

Dr. Sellheim is a graduate of the Physical Therapy Program at the University of North Dakota (UND). She received a MA degree in counseling from UND and PhD in Educational Policy and Administration, Higher Education Program, at the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include curricular design and outcomes, PT education and educational factors affecting how students approach learning. She has published and presented nationally on these topics. Dr. Sellheim has received three American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Journal of Physical Therapy Education awards for her publications: The Stanford Award (2003, 2017), an annual award honoring the most influential paper published in the Journal and the Feitelberg Journal Founder's Award (2006), which recognizes excellence in the preparation of a manuscript.

Dr. Sellheim has taught in PT and PTA programs in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Utah. She is currently Professor and Director of the Curriculum for the DPT Program at St. Catherine University. Her clinical background includes orthopedics and general practice (rural hospital/long-term care facilities). Dr. Sellheim is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and was a 2012 recipient of the Corrine Ellingham Outstanding Service Award from the MN Chapter of the APTA. She also serves on the MN Board of Physical Therapy. Her personal interests include hiking, travel, and reading.
