About Deborah Madanayake, PT, JD, CLT, CEEAA

Deborah Madanayake is a 1986 graduate of the College of St. Scholastica with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Therapy. In 1996, she became a Geriatric Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 2005. Most recently, she earned certification as a lymphedema therapist. Professor Madanayake joined the DPT faculty in 2006. She teaches course content in geriatric physical therapy, ethics, legal issues, and practice management. She continues active clinical work in the geriatric transitional care, outpatient, and adult day program settings. Her research interests include the impact of assistive devices on gait characteristics, as well as the impact of balance exercises traditionally prescribed in geriatric home exercise programs.
