About Debbie Danowski

Debbie Danowski, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the School of Communication, Media & The Arts at Sacred Heart University. She is also the author of five popular books about weight loss and food addiction. Dr. Danowski also served as Manager of Media Relations for a national nonprofit organization and a Public Relations Consultant for a national food addiction treatment center. Currently, she is a Public Relations Coordinator for H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut (horseofct.org).
Dr. Danowski holds a Ph.D. from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she researched eating behavior in American film, a Master’s degree in Public Communications from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Sacred Heart University.

Magazines and Body Image, Studies in Self-Help Books, Advertising and Public Relations: Practical Applications, The History of Advertising and Public Relations, Food Advertising
Research Interests & Grants:
Journalism production and freelance writing, representations of gender and body image in magazines, TV, film, and other media
In addition to the books Dr. Danowski has written more than 100 articles for national and local publications, including First For Women, Woman’s Day and Seventeen Magazine, and served as a contributing writer for Fairfield County Home magazine.
