About Daxton "Chip" Stewart

Daxton R. "Chip" Stewart studies journalism and media law issues such as freedom of information laws, copyright and social media as a professor in the Journalism Department at TCU.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas and holds an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution and a Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
His articles have been published in several places, including Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Communication Law & Policy, Journal of Telecommunication and High Technology Law, American Journalism, Journal of Media Law & Ethics, and Appalachian Law Journal. He is the editor of Social Media and the Law: A Guidebook for Communication Students and Professionals (2nd ed., Routledge, 2017) and co-author of The Law of Public Communication (10th ed., Routledge, 2017). He also serves as founding editor of Community Journalism, an online, peer-reviewed, open access journal published by the Texas Center for Community Journalism.
