About David J. White

David J. White, Ph.D., has been on the faculty of the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at Iowa State University since 2001 and is the holder of the Richard L. Handy Professorship. Dr. White has advised more than 40 graduate students and has over 135 technical publications. His projects have included ground improvement systems, intelligent compaction, automated machine guidance, soil stabilization, in situ testing, and sensor technologies. Research sponsors have included the Federal Highway Administration, National Science Foundation, National Cooperative Highway Research Program, state departments of transportation, and several industry partners. Dr. White received a bachelor of science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and master of science and doctoral degrees from Iowa State University, all in civil engineering. Dr. White is the recipient of the 2007 national ASCE Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award.
