Abstract

The success of a résumé is often dependent on the applicant's ability to translate content to audiences across contexts. When tasked with applying for post-service employment, veterans can find it difficult to translate their knowledge, skills, and experience into a language and format that can be easily understood and appreciated in a corporate setting. Often highly desirable job skills can be lost in poorly designed or otherwise confusing application materials. This pilot study explores themes identified in the résumés of retired military personnel and provides recommendations for those invested in their success, including employers and educators.
