Abstract

There is some minor confusion in some literature regarding the number of H+ and OH– ions in a neutral aqueous solution, presumably based on an incorrect application of [H+] = [OH–] = 1 × 10–7 M. Here, the method to determine the proper number of ions present in a neutral solution is demonstrated.
