Abstract

The article presents the history of the debate on the issue of whether light is a particle or a wave. The particle hypothesis of Pythagorus suggested that light particle were gave off by all object and were intercepted by the eyes. However, Plato suggested that light was given off by the eye and illuminated all objects. On the other hand, Aristotle thought that light was some kind of wave.
