Torrey pines landslides
Round River Journal (2020)

Abstract
The Torrey Pines beach is flanked with high cliffs. These experience a variety of landslides as they are weakened by water, root growth, earthquakes, and undercutting by waves. Beachgoers have been injured and killed by small landslides. The risk will increase as sea level rises. Historically very large landslides have occurred on the southernly beaches but fortunately no one has been killed by these massive slides. Monitoring of impending slides can reduce the risk - but everyone must judge for themselves.
