Technical Services Quarterly (2002)

Abstract
Our cataloging community currently lacks guidelines for cataloging unpublished contemporary music, whether manuscript, photocopy, or computer printout. This article explains the usefulness of such guidelines and examines the relevance of similar existing standards. It also describes the results of an examination of recent Library of Congress descriptive cataloging for such materials, to determine patterns of consistent practice as well as areas of the record and types of information that are handled inconsistently.
