About David Parker

David B. Parker, a native of North Carolina, graduated from Duke University (B.A., 1979) and received his PhD from the University of North Carolina (1988), where he worked under George B. Tindall and studied the history of the American South. He has taught at Kennesaw State since 1993. He is most proud of having proven that "y'all," usually associated with lower-class native southern speakers, actually began with 17th and 18th century British poetry.
