Meritocracy, still without merit : reply to responses.

Abstract
"I greatly appreciate Professor Silverman's (2015) and Dr. Popkin's (2015) response to my article. Unfortunately, as I shall detail below, both largely fail to grasp its central claims. More troubling, but to be expected, both (as conventional liberals) also endorse (and even reinforce, perhaps without even realizing it) the pernicious meritocratic ethic I isolate and critique. This, too, is rather unsurprising. As I pointed out, the belief in meritocracy is so deep-rooted in America that it is often simply assumed without much consideration or analysis (see Hayes, 2012)."
