About David Horowitz

David A. Horowitz, a native of the Bronx, New York, earned a PhD at the University of Minnesota in 1971 and has taught US Cultural and Political History at Portland State since 1968. His publications include Beyond Left and Right: Insurgency and the Establishment, Inside the Klavern: The Secret History of a Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s, America’s Political Class under Fire: The 20th Century’s Great Culture War, and The People’s Voice: A Populist Cultural History of Modern America. He is also the co-author of On the Edge: The U. S. in the 20th Century. His most recent publications are Getting There: An American Cultural Odyssey, a personal, professional, and political memoir, and a biography of his parents entitled Two on the Aisle: A Judaic American Tale of Romance and Creative Dreams. He was the recipient of Portland State’s Branford Millar Award in 2007. His current interests center on strategic approaches to the legacy of social protest.
