About Darcy Ronan

Dr. Darcy Ronan teaches in the Teacher Education department at the Isabelle Farrington College of Education and is program director of Computer Science. Before joining the faculty at Sacred Heart University, Darcy taught science for over a decade in various public school-based roles including classroom teacher, instructional coach, and curriculum leader. She has worked in elementary, middle, and high schools in both urban and suburban settings across Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. Most recently, Darcy was the Curriculum Instructional Leader for Science & Technology, grades 6-12 in the Weston, CT Public Schools. Darcy previously taught elementary science methods at Teachers College, Columbia University and biology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. 

Darcy frequently attends and presents at national and international conferences including annual conferences of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST), Association of Science Teacher Education (ASTE), and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).

Dr. Ronan’s research interests include: STEM program design and implementation in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) era; elementary science delivery models; teacher preparation and identity development in science; administrator perceptions of science/STEM instruction; science research experiences for secondary students, undergraduates, and teachers; multicultural science education; and authentic and performance-based assessment and grading
