Abstract
Ghost Light Theatricals concluded its 2012-13 season-which included Moliere's Scapin and Shakespeare's Hamlet-with a production of Eugene O'Neill's The Hairy Ape. The production juxtaposes the immediate sting of Yank's circumstances with his yearnings for vindication and justice, and suggests how these yearnings construct his vision of himself and the world that oppresses him. It also helps focus the play as tragedy in a surprising way.
