About Daniel J. Curran

Dr. Daniel Curran is a Professor of Sociology as well as a president emeritus of the University of Dayton. He was the university's 18th president and its first lay leader. He came to Dayton in the summer of 2002 from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia. As a professor, he has taught courses in criminology, social problems, juvenile justice and white collar crime.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Most of Dr. Curran's research has focused on ways to address social inequality. He sees one of the roles of Catholic universities as "a social force for change."
