Abstract
Laboratory experiments using CaO-CaF2-CaCl2-Fe2O3 powdered fluxes were carried out to clarify the effect of silicon content on kinetics. Dephosphorization occurs after the cessation of the desiliconization reaction in melts with high or medium initial silicon contents (0. 34 and 0. 13% , respectively), while it proceeds immediately in the case of low initial silicon (0. 02%). These characteristics can be interpreted using a kinetic model that takes coupled reactions into account.
