About D. Cenk Erdil

D. Cenk Erdil, Ph.D. (deceased) joined the Sacred Heart University School of Computer Science & Engineering in Fall 2017 and was the undergraduate program director of CS programs and Director of the state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence Lab in the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology. His research includes using cloud computing as artificial intelligence infrastructures, cyber-physical systems, computer science education, and health informatics. He was a senior member of ACM and a senior member of IEEE. 
Prior to SHU, Professor Erdil held academic positions at Columbia University Medical Center, Marist College, and Istanbul Bilgi University.

He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference publications in grid and cloud computing. He designed and implemented a cloud-based public health informatics infrastructure for Columbia University ICAP, and also designed a data dissemination module for PHIA Project.
He is a founding member of the School of Engineering at Istanbul Bilgi University, and was the chair of its Computer Engineering Department. In the past, he designed an adaptive resource-matching framework for large-scale, autonomous grid computing environments, using epidemic dissemination protocols. He is also the founding president of Engineers Without Borders International, Turkey branch.
At the industry, Dr. Erdil has worked in management and software engineering roles for more than a decade. He is a member of ACM, IEEE Computer Society, and Engineers Without Borders International, American Society for Engineering Education, and Association for Information Systems.
