About Claire Seungeun Lee

Dr. Claire Seungeun Lee is now based at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Prior to coming to Boston, she has worked in the educational, media and legal sectors in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and Seoul, and, latterly, for the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, one of the leading think tanks in South Korea. She worked for Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, Tembusu College and Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore. She has taught undergraduate and professional courses at Tembusu College, National University of Singapore, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

She is interested in how the rise of China shapes the local, global and international dynamics in and out of the Asian hemisphere, and how Asian countries especially respond to the emerging “Sinosphere.” Her broader research interests include cultural and economic sociology, political economy, social policy, international migration and contemporary Chinese society.
