About Claire McKinney

Professor McKinney’s research interests include feminist theory, reproductive politics, and disability studies. Her scholarship and instruction alike explore bodily autonomy, especially for women and gender minorities, in conversation with issues of citizenship and the politics of reproduction. A professor at W&M for three years now, she was awarded a faculty research summer grant in 2018. McKinney hopes her research can help inform new theoretical tools that will welcome more voices in the political conversations that determine whose bodies matter. McKinney values the interdisciplinary approach that shapes the W&M GSWS Program, finding inspiration and innovation in her collaboration with fellow faculty and students.
