Dr. Sun has more than 15 years of experience in research, teaching, and professional practice in structural engineering. His research interests include UHPC, accelerated bridge construction, innovative bridge systems, evaluation of existing concrete structures, and instrumentation and monitoring of structures. He has performed design, construction engineering, inspection, and rehabilitation of numerous types of structures, including buildings, bridges, tunnels, and culverts, and has been involved in many award-winning projects related to the use of high performance concrete and steel. He has accumulated substantial experience in project management, including several multi-million dollar infrastructure projects, such as the Chene Street Bridge over I-94 in Michigan, the I-29 and I-80 Interchange in Iowa, the Herb Gray Project in Canada, and the Jahra Road Bridge in Kuwait, among others.
