About Christopher M. Layne

Dr. Layne holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and is lead developer of multidimensional grief theory and has constructed and validated measures of posttraumatic stress disorder, grief, war exposure, coping, self-efficacy, and social support. He provides trainings and consultation in many settings including high-risk schools, juvenile justice, terrorist attacks, and war. Dr. Layne worked closely with the American Psychiatric Association to develop Prolonged Grief Disorder criteria in DSM-5-TR. His professional interests include traumatic stress and bereavement; competency-based professional education; developmental psychopathology; evidence-based practice; evidence-based assessment; theory; research methods; resilience; and trauma- and loss-focused intervention.
