About Cheryl Ellerbrock

I identify myself as a middle grades and general secondary scholar who is expanding and deepening inquiry in middle grades education as well as impacting the local secondary education community and beyond by conducting educational research that investigates ways to promote responsive secondary school experiences for young adolescent learners (ages 10-15). My systematic program of research revolves around five interconnected strands:
- Investigating ways middle and high school environments are responsive to the basic and developmental needs of adolescent learners;
- Exploring ways to foster a responsive middle-to-high-school transition for young adolescents;
- Examining ways to promote responsive middle level mathematics teaching for young adolescent learners;
- Exploring ways to infuse arts-based learning in secondary schools to explore issues of global importance in developmentally responsive ways;
- Examining ways to cultivate developmentally and culturally responsive secondary teachers and teacher educators.
